Building a Flutter app means keeping flutter run open all day while you jump between code, Git, CI and the backend your app talks to. DevWorkspace Pro puts those pieces in one desktop window. Your Flutter app gets every core feature: an editor, Git, GitHub issues and Actions, AI agents with resume, terminal tabs that keep their output, notes and a project switcher.

Flutter has no stack-specific extras, and this workflow does not need them. The app works with the Flutter toolchain you already have, and treats your backend the same way.

Core features every project gets

  • Files editor, ⌘+P and project search
  • Git Changes and History, GitHub issues and Actions, Send to AI
  • AI sessions with resume
  • Terminal tabs with 60-day history
  • Notes, Focus Pad, the ⌘+K switcher, uptime monitoring and Remote SSH

One bonus applies here too: if your project has a Makefile, its targets show up on the Run card. You run Flutter itself with your own toolchain in a terminal tab.

A typical day with a Flutter app

Add the app

Drag the Flutter folder onto the window, or click Import and pick it. If your repository holds a web backend and a mobile app in two folders, add each one as its own project.

Starting fresh? Run flutter create in a folder, then drop that folder on the window. You can also clone first with New Project › Clone a repository and the Other run method.

Run and test

Open the Terminal tab and start flutter run. Click + for a second terminal for flutter test or dart run build_runner watch. A dot on a tab means it has output you have not seen yet.

When you restart the app, each terminal shows its saved output, then opens a new shell in the last folder you used.

Hand a task to an AI agent

Press ⌘+J and describe the work, for example "Add pull-to-refresh to the orders screen and a widget test for it". Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode starts in the app folder in a headless terminal. If you quit mid-task, the status bar offers the session to resume on the next launch.

Ship through GitHub

In Git › Changes, read each diff, select files and commit, then push from the terminal. Git › Actions shows your build and test workflows. Open a failed run to read the job log or re-run the job, or click Send failure to AI to give your agent the failed step and the end of its log.

Useful for Flutter teams

GitHub issues in the app

In Git › Issues you can read, search, create, comment on, close and reopen issues. Send to AI on a bug report builds a prompt with the title, the description and every comment. Send to Focus Pad adds the issue as a task.

Actions notifications

Sign in with the GitHub App and you get live run updates. You also get a notification when a run you started, or a run on your checked-out branch, finishes.

Find files fast

⌘+P fuzzy-matches files across lib/, test/ and the platform folders. ⌘+Shift+F searches the project and skips anything in .gitignore, which keeps build/ and .dart_tool/ out of the results.

Notes per project

The Scratchpad tab is a notes pad for each project. It is a handy spot for device IDs, flavor commands and release steps, and it saves shortly after you stop typing.

Focus Pad and wellbeing

Focus Pad is an always-on-top checklist for the task in front of you. Eye Care, Keep Awake and Voice-to-Text work for every user, whatever the stack.

Remote SSH and uptime

Open a shell on the Linux server behind your API from the Remote SSH tab. Add the public API URL in Health › Uptime, and you get an email when it goes down.

Works with your existing setup

The app never installs or changes your Flutter SDK, your emulators or your pubspec.yaml. The Terminal tab opens your own shell in the project folder, so flutter and dart behave exactly as they do elsewhere. Keep Android Studio or VS Code for the Dart tooling; IDE opens the app with your editor command.

Running a Laravel or Node.js backend for the app? See /for/laravel and /for/nodejs. Docs: Projects, Import Projects, GitHub Integration, Session Resume.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What support does a Flutter project get?

Every core feature that works for any folder: the Files editor, Cmd+P, project search, Git Changes and History, GitHub issues and Actions, Send to AI, AI sessions with resume, terminal tabs, notes, Focus Pad, the project switcher, uptime monitoring and Remote SSH.

How do I run flutter run?

Open the project's Terminal tab and run flutter run. Add more terminal tabs for flutter test or build_runner. If the project has a Makefile, its targets appear as buttons on the Run card.

Can I keep my Flutter app and its backend in one place?

Yes. Add each folder as its own project, for example a Laravel API in DDEV and the Flutter app in another folder, then switch between them with Cmd+K or Ctrl+Tab.

Do my AI sessions survive a restart?

Yes. Sessions you start with New AI session or Send to AI can resume after a restart, with the same conversation and the same flags.
