Next.js runs in DevWorkspace Pro as a Node.js project. New Project has a Next.js template that calls create-next-app with the package manager you pick, and an existing app comes in with the Node.js badge. Either way, your scripts become buttons, your lockfile gets scanned and your AI agent sits one shortcut away.

Core features every project gets

  • Files editor with TypeScript completions, ⌘+P and project search
  • Git Changes, plus GitHub issues and Actions
  • Send to AI and AI sessions with resume
  • Terminal tabs, Focus Pad and the ⌘+K switcher
  • Uptime monitoring and Remote SSH

Extras for Next.js

Through the Node.js stack, a Next.js app also gets:

  • The Node.js badge and the Next.js template
  • A Run card with your package.json scripts
  • The NPM Dependencies recipe
  • A lockfile scan for npm, pnpm, Yarn and Bun
  • Runtime support for your package manager (native) and Docker Compose services

From create-next-app to a green build

Create or import

Click New Project, select Node.js and pick Next.js under Template. In step 2, choose Package manager, then npm, pnpm, Yarn or Bun (only installed managers show up).

The app runs create-next-app with --yes and --use-<manager>, so it never stops to ask questions. Step 2 shows the exact command before it runs. For an app you already have, drag its folder onto the window.

Run dev, build and lint

The Run card leads with <manager> run dev and a Run button. Under it, build, start, lint and your other scripts are buttons too. The card takes the manager from packageManager in package.json, or from the lockfile when that field is missing.

Each script runs in a headless terminal. Press ⌘+Shift+M to minimize it, and it keeps running in the status bar.

Work with an AI agent

Press ⌘+J and type the task, for example "Move the dashboard to the App Router and add a loading state". Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode starts in the app folder.

Set your usual flags once in Preferences → Focus Pad → AI CLI Tool Arguments, or change them in the launcher for a single session. If you quit the app mid-task, you can resume the same conversation after a restart.

Ship through GitHub

Review each diff in Git › Changes, commit, and push from the terminal tab. The Git toolbar shows the CI status of the checked-out branch, with a pulsing dot while a run is in progress.

Sign in with the GitHub App and you also get live Actions updates, plus a notification when a run on your branch ends.

Tools a Next.js developer will use

Lockfile security scan. Health › Security reads package-lock.json, pnpm-lock.yaml, yarn.lock or bun.lock and checks every direct and transitive package. Findings are grouped into Critical, High, Medium and Low tiles. Select the ones you care about and click Upgrade selected or Send selected to AI.

NPM Dependencies recipe. Runs npm outdated and lists packages that have newer versions.

Docker Compose. Running Next.js next to a database or Redis in compose.yaml? The Services card controls each service and opens published ports in your browser.

Uptime. Add your production URL in Health › Uptime. Our servers check it at the interval you set and email you after the number of failed checks you choose. Local URLs such as localhost are not accepted.

Notes. The Scratchpad tab is a per-project notes pad with syntax highlighting, handy for commands, environment notes and snippets.

Keeps your existing setup

The app runs your installed node and package manager, and it leaves your Next.js config alone. Husky hooks run on commit as usual.

Self-hosting? Remote SSH reads the hosts in your SSH config, so you can open a shell on your server from the Remote SSH tab. Click IDE to open the app in your editor.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How does the app create a Next.js project?

Select Node.js in New Project, then the Next.js template, then a package manager. The app runs create-next-app with --yes and the flag for your package manager, for example --use-pnpm. The run command is <manager> run dev.

Does the app show a Next.js badge?

No. A Next.js app shows the Node.js badge, because the app finds package.json. All Node.js features apply: scripts, lockfile scan and Docker Compose.

Can I fix a failed Vercel or GitHub Actions build with an AI agent?

For GitHub Actions, yes. Open the failed run in Git › Actions and click Send failure to AI. The prompt has the workflow, the commit, the failed step and the end of its log. Builds on other CI services are not shown in the app.
